NHC Graduates Among Top Industry Finalists

We’re delighted to see two National Horseracing College graduates announced as finalists in the highly competitive 2026 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards, sponsored by Godolphin. 

With £128,500 in prize money to be won across six categories, the awards celebrate the hard work, passion and dedication of the outstanding individuals who make a positive difference to the lives of our horses, people and local communities.

Freddie Wilks, Racing Groom at Johnston Racing, is a finalist in the Newcomer category. Freddie completed the two-year 14-16 Year Old Programme in 2022 and 2023. From here, he completed the Foundation Course and is now undertaking the Level 2 Equine Groom (Racing) Apprenticeship.

In the Community Award category, Hayley Clements is one of three finalists. In 2000, Hayley completed the Foundation Course at the National Horseracing College (then NVQ Level 1), the Level 2 Equine Groom (Racing) Apprenticeship in 2001 and the NVQ Level 3 (now Level 3 Diploma) in 2003.

The well-deserving finalists will head to Ascot Racecourse on Monday, 23 February 2026, to find out who is crowned the 2026 award winners.

The final round of judging will take place at Ascot Racecourse on Monday 23rd February 2026, before the winners in each category and the overall Employee of the Year are announced at the evening ceremony.
