ESFA – Apprenticeship short term Incentive extended and Increased:

The NHC would like to make employers aware the Incentive payments from the ESFA to employers taking on new apprentices from 1 August 2020  has been extended to 30 September 2021 (to continue to support employers during COVID-19). An Incentive will be paid for new employees with a contract of employment start date between 1 August 2020 to 30 September 2021 where they have not been employed by the same employer within the last 6 months. To claim the incentive the employer must be registered with the Apprenticeship Service (AS) and we are happy to assist with this registration.  The Incentive has been increased from April 2021 to £3000 for all apprentices of any age and will be paid in 2 instalments at the 90 and 365 day point after an apprentice has started.   This amount is paid on top of the existing £1000 for an apprentice aged 16-18. There is no limit to the number of claims per employer however the Co-investment remains at 5% for employers unless the apprentice is 16-18 in a small yard (<50 employees).
