Learning Support Assistant 

(37-hours per week)

Starting Salary £16,777.28

The National Horseracing College seeks to employ a full-time Learning Support Assistant to join its enthusiastic, vibrant and hardworking team.  As one of only two specialist horse racing colleges in the UK, this third sector provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries.  Located in the scenic grounds of a private estate near Doncaster, it achieved Ofsted Grade 2 in 2016.

To be selected for this interesting, challenging role, you must have practical experience of working with young people, and an understanding of the needs of young people from deprived backgrounds and/or with specialist needs. Experience in supporting teaching staff to deliver agreed learning activities to ensure that each individual learner meets their discrete learning needs.   Equestrian knowledge and experience are essential and an understanding of the racing industry is desirable.

Hours of work:  37 per week, flexible according to the needs of the role as some evening and weekend work will be required.

The salary is £16,777.28per annum with a contributory pension scheme, an initial holiday entitlement of 25 days, plus Bank Holidays.  A fixed term contract for two years, with the potential to be extended (reliant on the achievement of targets and further funding).  This post is funded by the Community Fund for two years.

Full-Time Engagement Assistant

(37-hours per week)

Salary £22,325

The National Horseracing College seeks to employ a full-time Engagement Assistant to join its enthusiastic, vibrant and hardworking team.  As one of only two specialist horse racing colleges in the UK, this third sector provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries.  Located in the scenic grounds of a private estate near Doncaster, it achieved Ofsted Grade 2 in 2016.

To be selected for this interesting, challenging role, you must have practical experience of working with young people and organisations supporting this client group. Experience of delivering engaging presentations and workshops to a variety of stakeholders.  An understanding of the needs of young people from deprived backgrounds and/or with specialist needs.   Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential.  Evidence of strong networks with organisations working with young people in a 40 mile radius of Doncaster.  To be clear, this job role is about engaging with organisations and groups that work with young people, to make them aware of the college and our courses, and thereby increase applications for the same.

Knowledge of horses and horseracing is desirable.

Bank Worker – Residential Cover

The National Horseracing College seeks to engage a bank worker to provide relief residential cover.  This would be adhoc work, to cover sporadic holidays and sickness. Applicants must have experience of working with young people, preferably within a residential setting, good communication skills and a full driving licence

Our shifts are as follows:-

  • 5.00pm – 10.30pm (Monday to Friday)
  • 10.00pm – 8.00am (Monday to Friday) – sleeping duty from 12.00pm
  • Saturday 8.00am – Sunday 8.00am
  • Sunday 8.00am – Monday 8.00am

The rates of pay are:

  • 8.00am – 12.00pm – £8.90 per hour + holiday pay
  • 12.00pm – 5.30am – £8.72 per hour + holiday pay
  • 5.30am – 8.00am – £8.90 per hour + holiday pay
