ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP

The Level 3 Senior Equine Groom (Racing) Apprenticeship is an advanced, work-based qualification for individuals employed 15 hours or more per week in a Licensed Racing Yard or *Point-to-Point Yard in England.

* Racing experience must be gained on a licensed racecourse; a Point-to-Point racecourse does not meet the qualification criteria.

The programme supports development in:

✔ Managing the daily care, fitness and welfare of racehorses
✔ Planning and overseeing routines, exercise and yard organisation
✔ Preparing horses for racing and supporting race-day operations
✔ Monitoring health, soundness and condition, and reporting concerns
✔ Maintaining high standards of horse welfare and biosecurity
✔ Applying advanced safe working practices to industry standards

The Level 3 Diploma is a mandatory requirement for all prospective licensed racehorse trainers and permit holders.
