Health & Safety Assistant

Default
Christine joined the National Horseracing College as their Health & Safety Assistant in October 2026. She brings almost 20 years’ experience in adult social care (ASC), with a career spanning HR, health and safety senior management, quality assurance, data protection and ASC governance. Her work has included health and safety strategy, business continuity planning, risk management and helping colleagues put safe working practices into everyday use. At the college, she carries out site safety checks, supports risk assessments, delivers health and safety inductions, maintains safety records and supports continuous improvement in health, safety and wellbeing.
Christine holds an NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice and was previously a Certified Member of IOSH (CertIOSH). Her qualifications also include the CIPD Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management, an Open University Certificate in Business Studies, a Level 3 Certificate in Personnel Practice, an NCSC certified Data Protection Practitioner, a NVQ Level 3 Business Administration, and a Level 2 certificate in Equality and Diversity. She is further trained in Adult Safeguarding and Level 3 Children’s Safeguarding (including the KCSIE 25 updates), Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, First Aid at Work, Sports First Aid, and Food Safety to Level 4. She is also studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Cybersecurity.
Alongside her college role, Christine is a Town Councillor, a Public Governor for Doncaster at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a Director of Repurpose I.T CIC and a TMCR 95.3 & 107.5 FM volunteer community radio presenter & company secretary. Christine supports local community groups with governance and successful funding bids.
Christine is also mum to an 18-year-old autistic daughter who has been riding on and off since 2015. They have owned three ponies over the years, although Christine readily admits she is no equestrian expert. Her experience as a pony mum brings a personal connection to the college’s work and a parent’s perspective on supporting young people.
