Victoria Smeeton

Joined NHC 2018

Victoria joined the Instructor Team in June 2020, she was previously a Roving-Tutor for the Midlands area for one and a half years.

Victoria first attended the NHC back in 2005 to complete the college conversion course. This introduced young people with a passion for horses into the horseracing world. She then went on to work in the industry for trainers including Geraldine Rees, Michael Attwater, Scott Dixon, James Given, Alan McCabe, and Mick Appleby.  Working in various roles including groom, work rider and secretary. She gained her Level 1, 2 and 3 in Racehorse Care, Transporting Horse Certificate,  First Aid Course and is soon to complete her Assessors Course before starting her Teaching Qualifications.

From February 2019 to July 2020 Victoria worked as a Roving Tutor for the college in the East Midlands area. She mentored learners out in the workplace, supporting and assisting them with gaining their Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. From July 2020 onwards she have been on the instructor team based at NHC.

Victoria’s favourite and most rewarding part of her job is watching the learners mature and blossom, seeing their confidence grow and their life and industry skill set expand. She is also very proud to introduce them to the incredible world of horseracing which gave her some of the most memorable days of her life. To help young people at the very beginning of this amazing journey is very humbling and she takes great pride in following all NHC learner’s progression.
